US mid-terms: The teenagers partying with postcards

[ad_1]

Forget your emails and phones. American teenagers are using crayons to send their political message.

Dylan Corn and her friends are Democrats and they want people to vote ahead of the US mid-terms next month.

The vote comes exactly two years after Donald Trump was elected US President.

This time the public are choosing members of Congress, but how they vote could affect how the rest of Mr Trump’s presidency turns out.

Video produced by Daniel South and Maria Rosa Badia.

Listen to OS on the BBC iPlayer.

Vietnam's children and the fear of climate change

Image
[ad_1] Image caption The threat of climate change exercises the minds of even the youngest in Vietnam One little girl draws a nightmarish picture of people calling for rescue as they drown in rising water. Another sketches a huge snake with sharp teeth to show the power and danger of flooding. These disturbing images are the work of children at a primary school in Can Tho province, a region of Vietnam that is regularly swamped. The land itself is sinking and, at the same time, the level of the sea is rising, as global warming causes the water to expand and the ice caps to melt. In French it was called Hier Encore but Aznavour always felt the English version, co-written with Les Miserables' lyricist Herbert Kretzmer, was more poetic. It open...

[ad_1] Image copyright Getty Images Image caption Jane Giannoulas from San Diego waiting outside Buckingham Palace after the wedding of Prince William A special exhibition of British royal portraiture has come to Texas from London, just as a Netflix show documenting the life of Elizabeth II, The Crown, sweeps the Emmys. How has the US fascination with the royals endured? With an elegant white fur collar around her neck and beneath the sparkling diamond diadem from her 1953 coronation the Queen's eyes are beguilingly closed - is she asleep, thinking about what cocktail to have before supper, or contemplating death? Chris Levine's intimate and enigmatic holographic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is one of 150 objects - most never seen before outside the UK - now telling an audience in Houston the story of B...
